Condominium Property law
Condominium property law involves increasingly complex legal issues and Bishop & McKenzie is involved in all aspects of this challenging area of law. We act on behalf of a variety of interests in connection with condominium projects including:
- Developers
- Residential managers
- Commercial managers
- Property managers
- Co-operative housing associations
- Individual unit owners
- Lenders and financial institutions
- Board Members
We have assisted and guided developers through all of the planning and development processes of municipal authorities. We have also provided advice on strata plans, condominium developments and legislative requirements and have represented condominium owners and corporations in construction disputes and in actions that have been commenced against the developers of various condominium projects.
We provide advice and referrals with respect to occupiers' liability, insurance and banking questions, and the obligation to maintain common areas. We advise condominium boards and corporations on reserve fund requirements and capital replacement reserve funds.
We also regularly advise residential and commercial managers of their contractual and statutory obligations and assist them in the collection and enforcement of arrears as well as other financial matters.
