Bishop & McKenzie is searching for talented, enthusiastic and dedicated articling students. We are looking for individuals with strong legal skills who have the ability to think outside the box, to foster relationships with diverse groups of people and to maintain professional integrity at all times. Most importantly, students who article with Bishop & McKenzie must have a positive attitude and be eager to learn.
An articling position at Bishop & McKenzie will provide you with first-hand experience in a wide variety of practice areas. You will be in a proactive, team oriented work environment and will discover how to apply academic theory in business situations. You will meet with clients and, in consultation with your principal or another supervising lawyer, will gradually be given increased responsibility until you gain the experience necessary to handle clients on your own. Our articling students receive ongoing training and access to a wide variety of legal resources.
To ensure a well-rounded article, Bishop & McKenzie’s students rotate through the different practice areas in our firm during their articling year. Our emphasis is on training and education.
At Bishop & McKenzie we provide:
- A principal who is committed to your success within the firm and in the legal profession
- The opportunity to work with other lawyers throughout the firm, as you move through your articling rotation
- Feedback on your performance as part of our team
- Assistance in meeting your requirements for admission to the Law Society of Alberta
- Computer access to an array of legal and non-legal databases
- State of the art personal computer hardware and software, computerized accounting and information transmission systems
- Highly trained support staff
